Volunteer Training Modules

All volunteers are required to undergo a small amount of training and if necessary, additional training - relevent to their respective role at Camp Breakaway.

Our training modules are as follows:

  • Module 2 - Learning to Care for the Disabled - Compulsory for all volunteers and staff

  • Module 3 - Learning to Provide Care for Adults with Disabilities

Heads-Up!

In response to feedback, we have now made it easier to do as much training as possible online -

Module-1 training consists of:

  • Viewing the Breakaway Module-1 presentation
  • Reading the Breakaway Code of Conduct
  • Listening to Care Careers Orientation Module-1
  • Familiarising yourself about Family & Community Services Mandatory Reporters
  • Familiarising yourself with the Child Story Reporter Mandatory Reporter Guide

Note. By making an appointment, you can do the above at Breakaway if you need access to a computer.

Module-2 is a face-to-face component and needs to be completed on the first day of camp. It will include instruction on manual handling, back care, infection control and the use of assistive technology such as lifters and hoists.

Please note:

  • Volunteers must be eighteen years of age or over
  • No experience is necessary, as free training is provided
  • Volunteers are needed on a part-time or full-time basis for the duration of our camps
  • Volunteers must be keen to work in a team environment and be willing to help fellow volunteers and campers
